This year when you vacation at your favorite lake you might be surprised to find summers two favorite things - trampolines and water - combined together to make the unusual and highly popular water trampoline. This fun filled floating trampoline is great for kids, but I must tell you adults love it too!
These large floating islands are about 25 feet across and look like a giant floating ring with a trampoline in the middle. While these might seem like the perfect accent to your summer cottage you must be forewarned that they are expensive and can cost around $4000 although they do make a smaller model for around $500.
However, if you simply must have one, you can justify they cost by knowing that as well as being something to have fun on, the water trampoline can also be an effective exercise device. In fact, jumping on a trampoline is extremely good exercise and since it has zero impact, it can be a great way for almost anyone to get a bit of exercise in.
Trampoline exercise can be done at your own pace and can have the same benefits of aerobics without the strain on your joints. In fact, exercising on a trampoline has added health benefits such as helping your lymphatic system to drain which can help boost the immune system. Just 10 minutes a day on a trampoline can help you ease stress, improve lung capacity and help you sleep better. Plus when it is on the water, you can simply jump in to cool off after working up a sweat!
If you do want to use your water trampoline for exercise, however, you’ll probably have to fight the kids for it as usually there is quite a bit of activity around these fun filled devices. The largest of these consists of a floating platform with springs and a trampoline on top. This allows you to make big jumps into the water and is loads of fun on a hot summer day. They typically come with handles and a ladder had have a padded collar for safe jumping. Usually they are made from PVC construction in order to withstand variations in water temperature.
If you do buy a water trampoline, you want to be sure you get one that is made from quality materials and that is protected from damage from the sun or water. Also, be sure to keep safety in mind. Be sure to anchor the trampoline in deep enough water so that anyone jumping in will not hurt themselves on the bottom.
